Health Freedom Action Needed In Colorado
Colorado: HB111 is a monopolistic restrictive Naturopathic Doctor registration bill moving forward in the Colorado House of Representatives. The bill casts a wide net for mandatory registration of practitioners and for exclusive use of titles. The bill defines naturopathic medicine to include all of the natural healing arts, including the “use of education, nutrition, homeopathic preparations, natural medicines and therapies, and other modalities that are designed to support, stimulate, or supplement the human body's own natural self-healing processes.” Read More | Take Action |

Good News for Health Freedom: Michigan Recommends Deregulation of Dietetics and Nutrition!!!
Currently regular citizens of Michigan can be charged with a felony for giving nutritional advice or nutritional counseling without a Dietitian or Nutrition license. But hopefully that’s about to change! Michigan’s Office of Regulatory Reinvention (ORR) is now recommending that the occupation of Dietetics and Nutrition be deregulated, and the Dietetics and Nutrition Licensing Board be eliminated! The ORR released its recommendations last week, in a report entitled “Recommendations Regarding Occupational Licensing” (Feb. 2012). The ORR’s stated rationale for its recommendation is that, “The regulation of dieticians and nutritionists does not provide a clear public health and safety benefit.” The recommendations will now go to the legislature. FOUR STATES Need Your Immediate Action
Help Pass Genetically Modified
Organisms (GMO) Labeling Bills!
SUPPORT Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont in GMO-labeling bills! Bills moving in these four states would place the burden of disclosure on the manufacturers by requiring a label for GMO containing foods. Currently there is no law requiring the labeling of foods containing or produced with genetically modified organisms. Without such disclosure mandates, manufacturers may voluntarily inform consumers of products containing GMOs but most are choosing not to do so. Some consumer-friendly manufacturers and independent organizations assume the burden of labeling products without GMOs by labeling them as “GMO-free”. Click on a State to Take Action NOW! OPPOSE and AMEND Illinois S.B. 2936
Illinois current monopolistic Dietitian law is up for repeal in 2013 and Senate Bill 2936 is attempting to extend the law until 2023. SB 2936 is moving fast. The Illinois Dietitian and Nutrition Services law is one of the most restrictive monopolistic Dietitian laws in the U.S. And the new bill would make it even worse, increasing the civil fines for unlicensed practice to $10,000, including anyone who practices in the field of nutrition if they are not licensed as Dietitian Nutritionists. This law needs to be repealed NOW! Or this law needs to have the health freedom safe harbor amendment (see below) added to exempt unlicensed citizens that nutritional advice from charges of violations. The bill received amendments that are inadequate to protect the rights of all citizens to recommend nutritional advice and the amendments kept in place all of the violation penalties for practice without a license. The bill continues to move forward, now scheduled for a 2nd reading on the Senate floor on March 21, 2012. Over the course of two decades the U.S. Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP, or “Vaccine Court”) has settled about 1,300 cases of vaccine-induced brain injury in children. The authors of a new study in the Pace Environmental Law Review conducted an intensive investigation of 150 of the cases to find out whether any of those cases involved autism. Despite the fact that government officials continue to proclaim that “HHS has never concluded in any case that autism was caused by vaccination.” (HHS website), the investigation found that 40% of the 150 reviewed cases compensated for vaccine injury were associated with autism. Nevada AB289 would make it a crime to “practice dietetics” or provide “nutrition services” unless you are licensed as a dietitian. Take Action! National Health Freedom Action
National Health Freedom Action opposes Arizona SB1175, which seeks to add a new category of licensed homeopaths into Arizona law. The bill requires licensure of homeopaths who are not medical doctors but who wish to practice medicine and call themselves doctors, and use the title licensed homeopathic doctor. And the bill has felony penalties for unlicensed practice “as a homeopathic doctor”. NHFA does not support licensure of homeopaths because homeopathy does not pose an imminent risk of harm to the public.
