Former New York State Assemblyman, Daniel Haley, author of “Politics in Healing”, has spent a lifetime studying health and healing in America. Haley is a man uniquely able to tell the story of the damage that political influence has wrought on our nation's healthcare alternatives. Over a period of ten to fifteen years, he researched effective and totally non-toxic therapies which saved many lives - and would have saved many more but for political interference. His experiences led him to write Politics in Healing: The suppression and manipulation of American Medicine. The book chronicles ten stories - stories that, sadly, actually happened, and, even more sadly, are still happening. Haley approached the stories as a reporter, telling the tragic truth about political intrusion in medicine and healing. Haley uniquely combines understandings gleaned from his political experience with his research into healing therapies – and the politics affecting our access to them.

Dr. Carolyn Dean, author of the newly published “Death by Modern Medicine”, and President of Friends of Freedom International, is a powerful health activist fighting for our collective health freedom. Dr. Dean became a health activist in 1975, when she spoke up in medical school about drug company bias in medical research and asserted that breast milk was better than bottle formula. She has been speaking the truth about medicine ever since. Dr. Dean is a medical doctor, naturopathic doctor, herbalist, acupuncturist, nutritionist, and author with almost a dozen books to her credit, including the highly acclaimed The Miracle of Magnesium, and Natural Prescriptions for Common Ailments. Most of her dozen books are about health and healing; however, Dr. Dean’s latest work, Death by Modern Medicine, showed that 784,000 people die prematurely every year in the U.S. due to modern medicine. This book stunned the health community and propelled her into greater advocacy regarding the abuse of medications and the suppression of dietary supplements. Death by Modern Medicine is a formidable book that is shaking the monopolistic roots of modern medicine and waking people up to the deep crisis in our health care system. On May 12, 2005 Dr. Dean, representing Friends of Freedom International, appeared before Canada's Health Standing Committee testifying on behalf of Bill C-420, educating government officials as to the safety of dietary supplements and that they should not be subjected to a drug category. Dr. Dean also attended the recent CODEX meetings on food and food supplements in Bonn and Rome.

Diane Miller is an attorney devoting her life work to the vision of health freedom. As Legal and Public Policy director for National Health Freedom Coalition, Miller works to develop and support effective health freedom leadership throughout the US and internationally. Her role as a solid resource for state and national groups drafting and implementing new laws, and her participation and drafting of reports regarding the codex Alimentarius Annual Commission meetings, allows her to speak effectively to a multitude of health freedom issues and strategies for change. In 1993 Miller helped to successfully defend a Minnesota farmer from charges of "practice of medicine without a license". After State v. Saunders, Miller proceeded to design health freedom legislation for the State of Minnesota with Minnesota Natural Health-Legal Reform Project. The result was the consumer-driven law entitled the Minnesota Complementary and Alternative Health Care Freedom of Access Act. In 2001, Miller founded the National Health Freedom Coalition, a national information resource organization to support leaders in their work to change the health paradigm to true health and freedom of choice. She has become a leading spokesperson giving workshops, speeches, and interviews, locally and nationally on health freedom.

Bringing her training as a Mediator and Executive Director to front stage, Miller will address the urgent need for leaders and teams to maximize their effectiveness and joy as they do the work of protecting our health freedoms.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30TH, CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

This will be a summit with the purpose of building and experiencing solidarity. State, National, Provincial, and International non-profit organizations and media organizations that work for the public good, all which focus primarily on the promotion of the principles of health freedom, are invited to sit in the Summit Round , one delegate representing each organization. Participants in the Round will each have time, approximately three minutes, to introduce themselves, share their mission statements, their most effective contribution to the health freedom movement, their upcoming goals, and their own statement of solidarity. Discussion will follow. The health freedom movement has many leaders, many promoters, many facets, many voices. We need to make our own resolutions, and stand together and make a difference.
